PGK's Scholarship In Education Fund

The nonprofit PGK Scholarship in Education Fund was created on behalf of children, teens, and their families to relieve some of the financial burdens associated with continuing education. Scholarships are not limited to traditional institutions of higher learning such as colleges and universities. Qualified educational institutions also include performing arts, vocational, and private secondary schools.

A portion of all revenue generated by PGK Business Groups is allocated to the PGK Scholarship in Education Fund.

The increasing cost of education is an ongoing dilemma for parents who work tirelessly to ensure that their children receive quality educations that will contribute to their children’s future success and prosperity. Rising tuition costs for private elementary and prep schools, colleges and universities, and trade schools have become prohibitive to so many parents who are committed to the cause of their children’s continued educations.

Solutions to funding higher education include scholarships and grants but also student loans and use of personal savings which can lead to insurmountable debt, poor credit ratings, and other forms of diminished financial freedom.

The PGK Scholarship in Education Fund was created on behalf of children and teens to relieve some of the financial burdens associated with attending certain schools, life-skills programs, and Summer camps. The scholarship fund plays a vital role in increasing access to primary and secondary schools and educational programs that have out-of-pocket participation costs.

The nonprofit PGK Scholarship in Education Fund will provide a multitude of avenues for children and teens to acquire continuing education scholarships and will not be limited to traditional institutions of higher learning such as colleges and universities. Qualified educational institutions will also include performing arts and vocational schools.

Scholarships awarded through the PGK Scholarship in Education Fund are earned through participation in various PGK sanctioned competitions.

Shawn McClain- Community Engagement Specialist

shawnmcclain@pgkclubhouse.com

Shawn M. McClain, a student athlete who graduated from Delaware State University with a double major in Sociology and Criminal Justice, is presently working on his Master’s Degree at Kean University in Special Education. He works with youth in his community by utilizing his vast training and experience in community organizations and networking skills. He makes youth aware of the various services the city has to offer. He also educates them about the opportunities and assists and motivates them to finish whatever opportunities they wish to endure.

Upon returning to Elizabeth, New Jersey in 1998, he became involved with the community by networking with various agencies to discuss the idea of mentoring in the City of Elizabeth. He, then, realized that there were many worthwhile youth programs, but none of which focused on the mentoring aspect.
